TRIP TO KANSAS

We took a bus from Vancouver to Seattle airport.

At Seattle airport we would take a plane to salt lake city, but before we took some pictures of the cool art work there.

Evan had some time to play and have fun in the children's area too.

We finally got to Kansas city. Auntie Sheila and Jeremiah were waiting for us and took us home. I love that family! They were all so nice to us. Our first night there we talked and talked for hours.
The morning after Evan picked up his tuxedo and after we had the wedding rehearsal. While people were setting up the decorations at church uncle Fred and us went to pick up a rental car. When we got there we saw a Krispy Kremes and of course we had to get some. We had Austin's cour of honor that night where he received hi Eagle Scout. It was a lovely evening. I really admire those boys! I really missed Danny.

At home, we were all very tired but we enjoyed so much talking to each other that it was super late when we finally went to bed. It was so much fun, Evan sang the turkey song and everybody found it so hilarious!
The following morning we got up very early and we made our way to Liberty Jail and Independence, Missouri.

The day couldn't have started in a better way. The church rebuilt the Liberty Jail over the stone foundation that still remains from the original one and then built a visitor center. It felt like holy ground to me. It had a special spirit. It was an amazing experience to be there where the Prophet Joseph had received so many revelations. Something that was said during the tour really stood out to me was that the Liberty Jail doesn't stand as a remainder of pain and suffering - that there was- but as one of faith. A place where faith was tested and found sufficient. I gained a better understanding of what it could have been like for Joseph Smith. I gained a greater appreciation for his strength, his diligence in his divine calling and his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. But that wasn't all. We went to Independence, ZION!
It was a bit weird to see the Re-org's temple right there by our visitor center. They are so close... but yet so far! It was even more annoying to find out that they are in possession of most of the lot where the Temple is supposed to be, they even removed the temple stones that were placed there for it, and built a church or something there instead.
In that visitor center we saw the new church movie about Joseph Smith.
It was so powerful. They made it in a way so one second you were crying and the next you cried... At least I cried... loads!
It was such a nice trip, so spiritual, so reinforcing, so fulfilling! I loved it!
Then we got home with so little time to get pretty for the pictures. I didn't look that good once the baby pucked all over me. So I went to the car to clean myself up, and on the way I lost my earring, and everybody knows how I feel about not wearing earrings!!!! So I stayed in the car until they were done and then went to church.
It was a nice wedding. I am so happy for them. They are both really nice I hope for the best in their life together.

It made me think of my marriage, of my love for Evan, my devotion to him and my family. It felt right.

They We had fun at the dance but we had to leave early because the time changed and our flight was early in the morning. We've hardly slept at all during this trip. I just loved talking and spending time with them. They want us to move there and I would soooooo love to!

So we flew to Cincinnati, and then to Seattle, where we stayed the night, and then took the bus back to Vancouver. I must admit that Evan Mikel hasn't been to bad in the planes to be his first flight experience, but...he wasn't good enough to make me want to travel with babies again. We are going to Spain in September and it is a way longer flight so I'm already thinking about drugs to have them sleeping throughout it all. I , well, we really missed Carmen. All of us, even the baby. I know he loves playing with her, and there was other little children there and Carmen would have had a blast. We found ourselves saying things that Carmen would have said if she had been there all the time. I was so excited to meet her again. She always looks even more beautiful than I remember her to be. Next time I won't leave her behind, EVER!!
